Rubato is a vehicle for the publisher of Nepenthe Music, Dwight Ashley, to discus various media related topic. A little about Rubato and it’s relationship to this blog.
Rubato (Italian stolen time) is a musical term referring to the slight speeding up or slowing down of the tempo of a piece at the discretion of the soloist or the conductor. In the earlier type of rubato, the tempo of the melody was made more flexible, while the accompaniment kept strict time. The time/tempo shifting is used to reach the aim of rubato: to make music sound expressive and natural.
As is the case in music so will be the case in this blog. It will change over time from serious to out right silly and then back again.
In any case, it is my intention for Rubato to be an informative read.
Please let me know what you think. Thank you for stopping by.
